3:28 PM ADT Sunday 21 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Guysborough County Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 15-25 mm per hour Potential wind gusts: 70- 90 km/h. Potential hail: 0-1 cm Locations: Parts of central and eastern mainland Nova Scotia. Time span: Late this afternoon and early evening. Remarks: Conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms later this afternoon, some of which may become severe across parts of mainland Nova Scotia. Localized downpours and very strong wind gusts may accompany some of the thunderstorms, in addition to small hail. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
