| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents due to large breaking waves up to 17 feet. Minor coastal flooding is expected. * WHERE. Beaches of southern Puerto Rico. * WHEN. For the Rip Current Risk, through Wednesday afternoon. For the High Surf, through 6 PM AST Wednesday. For the Coastal Flood, from 6 AM Tuesday through 6 AM AST Wednesday. * IMPACTS. Rip currents that can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water where it becomes difficult to return to safety. High waves that can wash over jetties and sweep people and pets onto jagged rocks. Rough surf may also knock you down. Large breaking waves will result in localized beach/dune structure erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Coastal flood in vulnerable places, such as coastal communities and structures in Patillas, Guayanilla, Ponce, Guayama, Salinas, Santa Isabel, Juana Diaz, and Arroyo. The next high tide on July 3rd for Magueyes Island will be 0.88 ft at 9:52 PM AST. |
