Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 9:09 PM MDT Sunday 4 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Lacombe Co. near Lacombe Blackfalds and Bentley At 9:09 PM MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and torrential rain. This large cluster of severe thunderstorms sits between Thorsby and Camrose and extends south to Sylvan Lake and Big Valley. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is moving very slowly to the northeast. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 7:30 PM MDT Sunday 4 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Lacombe Co. near Lacombe Blackfalds and Bentley Thunderstorms will continue to develop this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe producing very large hail, strong wind gusts and torrential rain. Thunderstorms will move towards the east or southeast through the evening before weakening overnight. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
