9:44 AM ADT Thursday 18 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Rainfall rates: 15 to 25 mm/h, except possibly higher in thunderstorms. Locations: Moncton and southeast New Brunswick. Time span: until this afternoon. Remarks: Heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible this morning as they move off the Bay of Fundy, some of these storms may move north towards Moncton. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
