3:55 PM NDT Sunday 28 July 2024 Heat Warning in effect for: Terra Nova A period of hot and humid weather is expected. Time span: Monday through Tuesday. Maximum daytime temperatures: 29 to 32 degrees Celsius (Humidex 34 to 38). Minimum overnight temperatures: 19 to 21 degrees Celsius. Locations: Terra Nova, Bonavista Peninsula, and Clarenville and vicinity. Remarks: The warmest temperatures will be experienced inland and where winds blow off the land, while cooler conditions are expected where winds blow onshore and along the immediate coastline. Little relief can be expected at night with elevated overnight temperatures. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
