Brief Description SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
Detailed Description 3:25 PM CDT Sunday 2 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Portage la Prairie incl. St. Ambroise R.M. of Grey incl. St. Claude Elm Creek and Fannystelle At 3:25 PM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This severe thunderstorm is located 9 kilometres southeast of Dakota Plains, moving northeast at 25 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 3:05 PM CDT Sunday 2 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Portage la Prairie - Headingley - Brunkild - Carman Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. An area of thunderstorms will develop in North Dakota this afternoon and drift northeastward into southern Manitoba, some of which may be severe. These thunderstorms will push eastward throughout the afternoon and evening. The main hazards from these storms will be strong winds and heavy rain. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
