| Detailed Description | The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Flood Advisory for the following rivers in Michigan. Chocolay River near Harvey affecting Marquette County. .Heavy rain will fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt increasing. Flows in rivers will increase quickly and reach critical levels. * WHAT. Elevated river levels caused by rain and snowmelt are occurring. * WHERE. Chocolay River near Harvey. * WHEN. From this morning to Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS. At 9.0 feet, Water begins to inundate the parking lot where M-28 crosses the Chocolay River. as well as low lying areas along Timber Lane and towards the mouth of the river * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 6:30 AM EDT Monday the stage was 7.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 9.5 feet early tomorrow afternoon. - Action stage is 9.5 feet. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
