Detailed Description TROPICAL STORM HONE BRINGS THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING TO THE BIG ISLAND FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING. * WHAT. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall remains possible. * WHERE. The Big Island. * WHEN. From noon HST today through Monday evening. * IMPACTS. Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Abundant moisture from Tropical Storm Hone is expected to spread over the Big Island this afternoon through Monday. Storm total rainfall estimates for the Big Island will range from 5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts possible. The higher amounts in these ranges will fall along windward mountain slopes of each island.
