| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE. Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. * WHEN. From 1 PM MDT this afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Slow-moving thunderstorms will develop from early afternoon through early evening. Some of today's stronger storms will be capable of producing rain at rates near 1 inch per hour. Recent burn scars, urban areas, areas with complex terrain, and locations where the ground is already saturated from recent rainfall will be especially susceptible to rapid runoff and flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
