Maximum daytime temperatures: 28 to 31 degrees Celsius (Humidex 34 to 38). Locations: central, northeastern, and eastern Newfoundland. Remarks: The warmest temperatures will continue to be experienced inland and where winds blow off the land, while cooler conditions are expected where winds blow onshore and along the immediate coastline. Extreme heat can affect everyone?s health. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Limit direct sun exposure. Shade yourself by wearing a wide-brimmed, breathable hat and/or an umbrella. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
