Low pressure is currently moving toward the Kuskokwim Delta this afternoon. Southerly winds 35 kts with gusts to 45 kts are expected to shift westerly this evening and last through Sunday for the Bristol Bay area. Waves will build to between 9 and 12 feet in the open waters of Bristol Bay and the southeastern Bering Sea Sunday morning. Westerly gale force winds accompanying wave heights of 9 to 12 feet will also push toward the coast of Bristol Bay by Sunday morning. Wave heights are expected to gradually subside later Sunday afternoon into Monday. Winds will also diminish Sunday afternoon, becoming mostly small craft winds, 20 to 30 kts through Monday. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to gradually diminish overnight into Sunday, though showers will return on Monday. Those with marine interests along the Southwest Coast, especially across Bristol Bay and the northern Alaska Peninsula coast, should monitor the forecast closely for updates and take any necessary precautions.
