| Detailed Description | 3:24 PM ADT Thursday 11 July 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Total rainfall: 40 to 60 mm. Time span: late this afternoon and this evening. Locations: Annapolis Valley, Hants County, Cumberland County and northern Colchester County. Remarks: Moisture from the remnants of Beryl are currently feeding into a line of heavy rain over areas near the Bay of Fundy. While there is a risk of severe thunderstorms embedded in this area of rain, accumulations will likely total near 60 mm, regardless of any thunderstorm activity. Should severe thunderstorms occur, accumulations could exceed 60 mm in some areas. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Watches 12:35 PM ADT Thursday 11 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 25 to 35 mm per hour, possibly higher. Locations: western Nova Scotia. Time span: continuing until late this evening. Remarks: Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Bay of Fundy early this afternoon and move east into western Nova Scotia later today. Localized torrential downpours are possible with these thunderstorms as they move onshore. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
