6:40 PM EDT Tuesday 28 May 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park Windsor - Leamington - Essex County At 6:40 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. This severe thunderstorm is located near Wheatley and is nearly stationary. Hazard: Heavy downpours with locally 50 to 100 mm possible. Locations impacted include: Wheatley, Mount Carmel, Blytheswood and Goldsmith. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
