| Detailed Description | 6:21 AM CDT Sunday 25 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth incl. Virden Elkhorn and Kenton At 6:21 AM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 11 kilometres east of Wolseley to 15 kilometres south of Whitewood to Redvers, moving northeast at 65 km/h. Hazard: 120 km/h wind gusts and toonie size hail. Locations impacted include: Grenfell, Broadview, Whitewood, Esterhazy, Wapella, Rocanville, Moosomin, Fleming, Crooked Lake Provincial Park, McAuley, Kola, Kirkella, Ebor, Cromer, Reeder, Hargrave, Oakshela, Moose Bay, Sunset Beach and Dubuc. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 3:54 AM CDT Sunday 25 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth incl. Virden Elkhorn and Kenton Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain. Thunderstorm activity continue across portions of southern and central Manitoba this morning. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe. With high humidity in place and slow storm motion, heavy rain is the most significant concern. The main threats from these thunderstorms will be: - Rainfall totals in excess of 100 mm - Hail to the size of tennis balls - Wind gusts to 110 km/h Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
