9:49 PM EDT Thursday 13 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Kaladar - Bannockburn - Bon Echo Park At 9:48 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Bordenwood to Osaca, moving east at 60 km/h. Hazard: Up to 100 km/h wind gusts. Up to quarter size hail. Locations impacted include: Cobourg, Trent Hills, Trenton, Stirling, Coverdale, Trenton Junction, Roseneath, Colborne, Ferris Provincial Park, Brighton, Madoc, Tweed, Kaladar, Tamworth, Puzzle Lake Provincial Park, Canton, Rossmount, Camborne, Harwood and Baltimore. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Hazards: Risk of tornadoes Strong winds gusting to 110 km/h Nickel to toonie size hail Timing: This evening. Discussion: Severe thunderstorms will continue to track through the region this evening. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.
