3:50 PM EDT Wednesday 5 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Windsor - Leamington - Essex County At 3:50 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 20 kilometres west of LaSalle to 55 kilometres southwest of Colchester, moving east at 55 km/h. Hazards: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts possible. Nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Windsor, Leamington, Amherstburg, Tecumseh, Kingsville, Belle River, Lakeshore, LaSalle, South Windsor, McGregor, Windsor Airport, Colchester, Harrow, Maidstone, Essex, Cottam and Pelee Island. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Discussion: Scattered thunderstorms are expected to push into the region this afternoon and continue into the early evening as a cold front pushes through.
