3:37 AM CDT Thursday 11 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Gillam Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Locations: Portions of northern Manitoba. Time span: Ongoing until 7 am CDT. Primary threats: Heavy rains along with scattered damaging wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h are possible. Remarks: Severe thunderstorms continue to redevelop primarily north and northwest of Oxford House. These storms will track southeastward into the overnight hours, posing a risk of locally damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Hail is also possible. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
