| Detailed Description | The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers and locations in Indiana. East Fork White River near Rivervale, at Shoals, near Bedford, at Williams, and at Seymour. White River below Eagle Valley Power Plant, near Centerton, at Newberry, Spencer, Edwardsport, and Elliston. . The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations in Indiana. White River at Hazleton and Petersburg. .Major flooding continues on the White and East Fork White rivers. The crest on the White Wednesday evening was just past Edwardsport, and forecast to reach Petersburg Friday evening and Hazleton Saturday night. Spencer is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday night, but Petersburg and Hazleton will remain above flood stage through all of next week. The crest on the East Fork was near Williams Wednesday evening and forecast to reach Shoals Thursday night. Seymour should fall below flood stage Friday night, while points downstream will stay above flood stage until at least the middle of next week. Rainfall is expected on and off through Thursday night, but total amounts of less half an inch are not expected to raise the crest, but could lengthen the time in flood. * WHAT. Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE. East Fork White River near Rivervale. * WHEN. Until Friday, April 18. * IMPACTS. At 36.0 feet, Major flood is in progress. Many evacuations from residential areas in flood plain are necessary. Portions of nearly 60 county and private roads are impassable, many by several feet of water. Many local river residents must park on high ground and boat out. Extensive damage occurs to local roads. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 8:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 36.3 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM EDT Wednesday was 37.1 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday, April 17 and continue falling and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
