Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description WHAT. The Winnebago County Emergency Manager has reported localized visibilities of a quarter or less, often near zero, due to smoke occurring near a mainly underground peat fire in the area. WHERE. A few miles northeast of Forest City, centered near 200th Avenue and 380th Street. Generally a six to eight square mile area. WHEN. Low visibilities may continue through at least 1000 am when winds are expected to increase slightly and temperatures rise reducing a near surface inversion. IMPACTS. Drivers should be alert for reduced visibility in that area, near zero at times.
