9:35 AM MST Thursday 23 May 2024 Winter Storm Warning in effect for: Dempster Snowfall mixed with freezing precipitation is expected. Where: Dempster Highway - northern sections near the Richardson Mountains. When: Tonight through Friday. Hazards: Freezing rain overnight changing to snow early Friday morning. Remarks: A spring storm will bring freezing rain then snow to northern sections of Dempster Highway. Freezing rain will begin overnight and will transition to snow early Friday morning. Up to 5 mm freezing rain accretion overnight and between 10 and 15 cm of snow is expected by Friday evening. Strong easterly winds of 40 km/h gusting to 60 near the Richardson Mountains may result in local blowing snow with lowering visibilities on Friday. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
