Hazards: Total snowfall amounts of 10-15 cm. Timing: Today into Friday night. Discussion: A strong low pressure system is currently bringing heavy precipitation to much of southern Manitoba today. While most areas have experienced heavy rainfall, the rain has changed over to heavy snow over parts of western Manitoba. Accumulation totals will vary across regions, with areas of higher terrain seeing more. The snow and rain will taper off throughout Friday night. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Hazards: Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 mm. Timing: Today through Saturday afternoon. Discussion: Heavy rain has moved into southern Manitoba as a strong low pressure system tracks northwards from the Dakotas. Most of the rain with this system will fall today, with the heaviest rain expected this morning. Heavy rain will gradually taper off tonight before ending by midday Saturday. Northerly wind gusts up to 60 km/h will accompany the rain Friday and Saturday. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
