A low pressure system approaching Kivalliq from northern Manitoba continues to bring showers to the area. Rainfall totals from Thursday to Saturday afternoon will be in the 20 to 35 mm range with locally heavier amounts where thunderstorms occur. The heavy showers will taper off throughout Saturday. Also, northerly winds gusting 70 to 80 km/h will accompany the rain showers overnight Friday night into Saturday at Baker Lake. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Dense fog continues in the Rankin Inlet region tonight as showers and an easterly onshore flow persist. Conditions may periodically improve throughout the night but with little change in wind direction expected, dense fog patches will be rather constant tonight. Some improvement is expected by Saturday morning. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.
