Brief Description Flood Warning
Detailed Description Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Texas. Colorado River at Colorado River at Colorado City, Texas affecting Mitchell County. For the Colorado River. including Colorado River at Colorado City, Texas. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Colorado River at Colorado River at Colorado City, Texas. * WHEN. Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS. At 12.0 feet, The river overflows its banks. This will result in some minor flooding of ranch land and fence posts. Ranchers should move livestock out of the flood plain to higher ground. No structures are threatened at this stage. At 14.0 feet, Minor flooding of farm and ranch land begins. No buildings or other structures are threatened. At 20.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins. Ranchers need to move livestock away from the floodplain. Trees and brush along the riverbanks in Colorado City will be inundated. A few farm buildings may be threatened by rising waters. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 7:15 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 19.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:15 PM CDT Wednesday was 19.8 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.1 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History.
