1:25 AM CDT Monday 26 August 2024 Wind Warning in effect for: Baker Lake Strong northerly winds with gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible Monday. A low pressure system moving into Hudson Bay will begin to intensify overnight tonight, resulting in strong northerly winds along the Kivalliq coastline. Winds will gradually increase Monday morning, before peaking in the early afternoon. Sustained winds of 70 km/h with gusts of 90-100 km/h are likely to occur by Monday afternoon. Winds will gradually taper off in the evening before diminishing overnight. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
