Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description A strong mid-November storm will continue to bring potentially hazardous conditions through tomorrow evening. Please use caution while traveling as gusty winds, blowing snow and rain on snow could lead to difficult conditions. As the storm's front continues to move inland today, strong winds gusting from 40 to 50 mph and visibilities as low as 1/2 mile will continue to impact communities from Lake Iliamna to as far west as Koliganek and New Stuyahok through this evening. Forecast snow amounts range from 3-6 inches and will be affected by how quickly snow transitions to rain. The low will move onshore late this evening north of Goodnews Bay. Behind the low, the wind direction changes from the southwest to northwest. This change in wind direction will impact communities along the coast, from Togiak south along the AK Pen and eastward to Port Heiden bringing weak but continued onshore flow through the weekend. The transition to all rain is expected for much of Bristol Bay by mid-afternoon today lasting into the overnight hours. Cooler air wrapping back around the low could lead to additional light snow mid to late tomorrow morning.
