Brief Description Flash Flood Warning
Detailed Description FFWRNK The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for. Southwestern Bland County in southwestern Virginia. Grayson County in southwestern Virginia. Smyth County in southwestern Virginia. Tazewell County in southwestern Virginia. Western Wythe County in southwestern Virginia. The City of Galax in southwestern Virginia. * Until 1030 PM EDT. * At 818 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.75 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, and there are reports of road closures due to flooding. HAZARD. Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include. Wytheville. Galax. Marion. Richlands. Bluefield. Tazewell. Saltville. This includes the following streams and drainages. Beaverdam Creek, Big Creek, Beaver Creek, Big Horse Creek, Blue Spring Creek, Bear Branch, Beech Fork and Bluestone River.
