| Detailed Description | A prolonged period of heavy rain is expected. Locations: the south coast of Newfoundland. Total rainfall: Channel-Port aux Basques to Burgeo - Ramea: 80 to 120 mm. Connaigre to the southern Avalon Peninsula: 60 to 80 mm. Time span: tonight through Sunday night. Similar storms in the past have caused: - the overflowing of creeks and rivers - road shoulder erosion and washouts Remarks: Rain will develop over southwestern Newfoundland early this evening and will spread to the southern Avalon Peninsula by late overnight tonight. The heaviest rain is expected on Sunday. ### Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
