The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening. * AFFECTED AREA. Fire Weather Zone 492 Central Utah West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert and Fire Weather Zone 498 Grand Staircase. * WINDS. Southwest winds around 15-25 mph with gusts to 30-35 mph are likely to develop Friday afternoon across much of southwestern and south-central Utah. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY. A drier air mass moving into southern Utah will result in relative humidity falling to the 10 to 15 percent range across a wide swath of southwestern and south-central Utah. * IMPACTS. Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.
