9:30 PM CST Wednesday 31 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: R.M. of Meadow Lake including Waterhen Res. At 9:30 PM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of thunderstorms extends from Waterhen Lake to east of Green Lake and is tracking to the east at 80 km/h. This cluster of thunderstorms has a history of producing severe wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms have moved into west central Saskatchewan this evening from Alberta. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe and will be very fast moving. Strong wind gusts are the primary threat with these thunderstorms. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road.
