6:45 AM MDT Tuesday 17 September 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Co. of Forty Mile near Bow Island and Whitla At 6:44 AM MDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This thunderstorm is located 37 km southwest of Medicine Hat and is moving slowly to the west. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
