Flood Warning
Detailed Description
* WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following county, Buchanan and southern West Virginia, including the following counties, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming. * WHEN. Until 315 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 911 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Grounds are saturated and streams are already running high, any bursts of moderate to heavy rainfall will cause streams to rise from their banks. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Welch, Pineville, Mullens, Northfork, Twin Falls State Park, Hanover, Gilbert Creek, Davy, Iaeger, Kimball, Rhodell, Wolf Pen, Baileysville, Maben, Herndon, Josephine, Panther and Ghent. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
