| Detailed Description | 3:20 PM EDT Friday 5 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: West Nipissing - French River At 3:19 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and up to ping pong ball size hail. This severe thunderstorm is located near Toad Lake, moving northeast at 30 km/h. Hazard: Ping pong ball size hail and 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Dollars Lake, Little Wolf Lake, Pine Lake, Toad Lake, Little Long Lake, Wauquimakog Lake, Loring and Jacks Lake. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
