| Detailed Description | The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations in Indiana. Illinois. Wabash River at Vincennes, Clinton, Covington, Riverton, Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site, Terre Haute, Lafayette, Montezuma, and Mount Carmel. .Extensive lowland flooding continues along the length of the Wabash River, with significant flooding on the lower Wabash at Mount Carmel. The crest on the Wabash Wednesday evening was at Hutsonville and is expected to reach Riverton and Vincennes by Thursday evening, and Mount Carmel Sunday evening. Forecast rainfall through Thursday night of less than half an inch should not raise crests, but may slow the fall. * WHAT. Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Wabash River at Mount Carmel. * WHEN. Until further notice. * IMPACTS. At 31.0 feet, Much of Western Gibson County is underwater. Some evacuations are necessary. New Baltimore (Black Hawk River Camp) about 1 1/2 miles south of Griffin floods extensively. Extensive flooding on the northern outskirts of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Numerous local river roads are underwater, some by a few feet. A few agricultural levees fail. River is 3 miles wide at I-64. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 9:00 PM EDT Wednesday /8:00 PM CDT Wednesday/ the stage was 28.5 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:00 PM EDT Wednesday /8:00 PM CDT Wednesday/ was 28.5 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.4 feet Sunday evening. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
