| Detailed Description | Snow, Moderate Rain, and Rising Freezing Levels. When: Today. Where: West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake, Arrow Lakes - Slocan Lake, Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. Potential impacts: - Messy road conditions due to rain on snow. - Water pooling and localized flooding due to moderate rainfall accumulation and snow melting. - Snow melting will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday due to freezing levels further rising to 2500 to 3000 metres. Additional information: A two-day weather system will continue to move across southern B.C. today. Snow levels will rise to 1700 metres by this morning, then to 2000 metres by this afternoon. For Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, rain on snow will likely give messy road conditions today. For the towns in West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake, and Arrow Lakes - Slocan Lake regions, total rainfall accumulations may reach 20 to 30 mm by tonight. A clearing trend is likely on Tuesday and Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds. Freezing levels will further rise to 2500 to 3000 metres. Mountain snow melting may give rise to more water pooling and localized flooding. ### Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
