Brief Description Coastal Flood Advisory
Detailed Description * LOCATION. Goodnews Bay and other communities west of Cape Newenham. * COASTAL FLOODING. Water levels as high as 2 to 5 feet above normal highest tide are possible. * TIMING. Water levels begin rising Sunday afternoon. While water levels will be elevated between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening, the worst conditions are expected from Monday night through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS. Southwesterly to westerly winds may cause higher seas and surf, contributing to erosion and flooding along the coast. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Good News Bay is expecting to see three surges of water that will combine with the regular high tide. The first will be early Sunday morning with a crest of 1 to 2 feet above the normal highest tide line. Early Monday morning, 2 to 3 feet above the normal highest tide line. Early Tuesday morning will bring the largest surge with 4 to 5 feet above the normal highest tide line. Coastal flooding risks rapidly diminish east and south of Cape Newenham. Expected peaks with respect to the normal highest tide line are as follows: Togiak: 2 feet. Nushagak Bay: 2 to 3 feet. Naknek: 2 to 3 feet. Egegik: 0 to 1 feet. Pilot Point: 2 to 3 feet.
