| Detailed Description | 3:26 PM CDT Friday 24 May 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Portage la Prairie - Headingley - Brunkild - Carman Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Hazards: Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 mm. Timing: Today into Saturday afternoon. Discussion: Heavy rain has moved into southern Manitoba as a strong low pressure system tracks northwards from the Dakotas. Most of the rain with this system will fall today. Heavy rain will gradually taper off tonight before ending by midday Saturday. Colder air has wrapped into this system leading to a transition to snow over parts of western Manitoba. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
