| Detailed Description | 5:09 PM EDT Monday 29 July 2024 Rainfall Warning in effect for: Geraldton - Longlac - Caramat Additional heavy rainfall possible this evening. Hazard: Additional local rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm possible. Total rainfall amounts in excess of 150 mm over localized areas. Timing: Continuing this this evening. Discussion: Heavy rain and thunderstorms have tapered to light showers. However, another round of thunderstorms is approaching from the southwest and could bring additional heavy rain to the area this evening. RADAR estimates indicate that 155 mm has fallen just south of Geraldton and Highway 11. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Rapidly rising rivers and creeks can sweep away bridges, culverts, buildings, and people. Don''t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
