Brief Description SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Detailed Description 5:24 AM EDT Tuesday 27 August 2024 Special Weather Statement in effect for: Deep River - Whitney - Eastern Algonquin Park Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to bring the potential for significant rainfall late this afternoon through tonight. Hazards: Local total rainfall amounts up to 60 mm possible. Rainfall rates of 30 to 40 mm per hour possible. Timing: Beginning late this afternoon and continuing through tonight. Discussion: Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to spread across the region late this afternoon or early this evening, which may lead to significant rain. Rainfall warnings may be required and issued with short notice to reflect the rapidly changing conditions. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
