| Detailed Description | 6:03 AM ADT Thursday 27 June 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Saint John and County At 6:03 AM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. This storm is located over the Bay of Fundy, south of Saint John and is moving northeast at 40 km/h. Rainfall amounts exceeding 30 mm are possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Thunderstorms could produce very heavy rain this morning across portions of the Fundy coast. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water. If you hear thunder, then lightning is close enough to be dangerous. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
