Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description Sustained easterly winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 60 mph are likely through Portage Valley and along Turnagain Arm between early Friday afternoon and Saturday evening. The peak of the strongest winds and gusts are expected between 9 pm AKDT Friday and 4 pm AKDT Saturday as a strong frontal system moves toward the coast of Southcentral Alaska. The strong winds and gusts will diminish Saturday night into early Sunday morning as the front moves inland and weakens. High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
