CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS NOW EXPECTED THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. . RED FLAG WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT /7 PM CDT/ WEDNESDAY FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 314, 315, 316, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 332, 333, 334, AND 335. .Gusty south to southwest winds will continue through this evening, slowly becoming northwest as a dry cold front moves through late tonight and early Wednesday. Wind gusts around 30 mph are expected through this evening, then 30 to 40 mph on the western South Dakota plains Wednesday. Minimum relative humidities will be 8-15 percent through this evening, poorly recover to 20-30 percent tonight over northeastern Wyoming and western South Dakota and 30-40 percent over south-central South Dakota, then dropping to 10-20 percent Wednesday afternoon. The combination of gusty winds, low minimum relative humidities through this evening and again Wednesday, poor overnight relative humidity recovery, and a dry cold front passage will produce critical fire weather conditions through Wednesday afternoon. * AFFECTED AREA. Fire Weather Zones 314 Northern Campbell, 315 Southern Campbell, 316 Crook County Plains, 317 Weston County Plains, 318 Wyoming Black Hills, 319 Northern Black Hills, 320 Central Black Hills, 321 Southern Black Hills, 322 Fall River County Area, 323 Northern Foot Hills, 324 Eastern Foot Hills, 325 Custer County Plains, 326 Pine Ridge Area, 327 Butte County Area, 328 Perkins County, 329 West Central Plains, 330 Ziebach County, 331 Haakon County Area, 332 Badlands Area, 333 Bennett County Area, 334 Mellette and Todd Counties and 335 Tripp County. * WINDS. Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph through this evening becoming northwest 10 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph on the western South Dakota plains Wednesday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY. 8 to 15 percent through this evening. Poor recovery tonight only rising to the 20s over northeastern Wyoming and far western South Dakota. 10 to 20 percent minimum relative humidity for Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS. The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity will produce critical fire weather conditions. |
