| Detailed Description | 11:46 PM PDT Monday 22 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Fort Nelson At 11:45 PM MST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. The area of severe thunderstorms is currently about 100 km east of Fort Nelson and moving northwest at 50 km/h. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 11:50 PM PDT Monday 22 July 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Fort Nelson Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain. Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
