| Detailed Description | 11:05 PM ADT Saturday 3 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Mount Carleton - Renous Highway At 11:04 PM ADT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Watches 11:08 PM ADT Saturday 3 August 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for: Mount Carleton - Renous Highway Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher. Potential wind gusts: 90 km/h or higher. Locations: northern New Brunswick. Time span: this evening. Remarks: Lines of thunderstorms may continue to develop this evening. Localized downpours and strong wind gusts may accompany some of the thunderstorms. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
