CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS NORTHEASTERN WYOMING AND WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. .Much of the area has experienced poor relative humidity recovery overnight, with relative humidity values in some portions of northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills as low as around 10 percent. Low humidity is coupled with steady south to southwest winds in many locations, sustained at 15 to 25 mph with localized gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph. A cold front will cross the area from northwest to southeast this morning, bringing a shift to northwesterly winds. Although relative humidity values may briefly recover above 25 percent behind the front, relative humidities are expected to drop to as low as 15 percent again late this morning into the afternoon. Combined with sustained northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of 40 to 55 mph, critical or near-critical fire weather conditions will persist. Late this afternoon, winds will begin to abate, and relative humidity values should increase above 30 percent around or after sunset. * AFFECTED AREA.
