Brief Description Yellow Warning - Winter Storm -
Detailed Description Snow at times heavy, blowing snow, and strong winds are expected. Locations: southwestern Newfoundland. Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm, except near 15 cm along the coast from Burgeo to Francois. Higher amounts are likely inland and over higher terrain. Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 70 km/h increasing to northwesterly 80 to 100 km/h. Time span: continuing until Tuesday morning. Similar storms in the past have caused: - school closures and cancellations of community activities - disruptions to public services - delays or cancellations of ferry services Remarks: Snow will intensify tonight and persist through Monday and Monday night except in the Burgeo area where the snow will taper off Monday evening. Winds will increase from the northeast Monday morning, causing poor visibility in blowing snow. The strongest winds are expected later Monday afternoon and Monday evening where gusts from the northwest to 80 or 100 km/h are possible. Winds will gradually diminish overnight Monday night. ### Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
