7:12 AM EDT Friday 01 July 2022 Heat Warning in effect for: Sarnia - Petrolia - Western Lambton County Watford - Pinery Park - Eastern Lambton County A two day heat event continues today. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach near 31 degrees Celsius again today after a very warm night last night. Humidex values are expected to be in the mid thirties today. The heat event is forecast to come to an end tonight. Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the air quality health index approaching the high risk category. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
