1:53 PM EDT Tuesday 28 June 2022 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for: Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls At 1:53 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located from 15 kilometres northeast of Little Missinaibi Lake to 15 kilometres east of Stackpool, moving east at 40 km/h. Hazard: Nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Chapleau-Nemegosenda River Provincial Park, Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park, Foleyet, Kapuskasing Lake, Missonga, Singelake, Palomar, Joburke, Groundhog Lake and Tionaga. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
