3:34 PM ADT Monday 27 June 2022 Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for: Labrador City and Wabush Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail. Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher in thunderstorms. Potential wind gusts: locally 90 km/h or higher in thunderstorms. Locations: western Labrador. Time span: continuing until this evening. Remarks: An area of thunderstorms over northern Quebec will move eastward into western Labrador. Localized downpours, hail, and strong winds may accompany some of the thunderstorms. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
