3:09 PM EDT Tuesday 28 June 2022 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for: Kirkland Lake - Englehart At 3:09 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located from Esker Lakes Provincial Park to 15 kilometres west of West Montreal River Provincial Park to 11 kilometres east of Nemegosenda Lake, moving east at 40 km/h. Hazard: Nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Kirkland Lake, Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park, Foleyet, Dana-Jowsey Lakes Provincial Park, West Montreal River Provincial Park, Esker Lakes Provincial Park, Singelake, Horwood Lake, Palomar, Joburke, Groundhog Lake, Tionaga, Kenogamissi Lake, Wawaitin Falls, Canoeshed Lake, Carman Bay, Argyle Lake, Mistinikon Lake, Watabeag Lake and Slim Lake. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
