| Detailed Description |
3:56 PM AST Wednesday 20 January 2021 Blizzard warning in effect for: Postville - Makkovik Blizzard conditions with poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring. Further snowfall: 10 to 15 cm with locally higher amounts possible. Maximum wind gusts: northwesterly 80 km/h or higher. Locations: northern Labrador. Time span: continuing until Thursday morning. Remarks: Fresh snowfall will be accompanied by very strong northwesterly winds and cold temperatures to bring near-zero visibilities in blowing snow. Conditions are expected to improve overnight tonight and into Thursday morning as winds begin to ease and snow tapers off. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone. Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
